Lenette (Schenker) Weiner

Lenette (Schenker) Weiner, 87, of West Hartford, widow of Dr. Irving S. Weiner, died Thursday, (November 1, 2007), at the Hebrew Home and Hospital in West Hartford. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Rebecca (Bordon) Schenker. She graduated from Weaver High School in Hartford. In addition to being an exceptional homemaker, she had been employed as a personal shopper at Sage Allen Department Store, worked at R. C. Knox Insurance Company and helped to run her husband’s dental practice. Lenette was a member of Beth El Temple of West Hartford, the Auxiliary of the Hebrew Home and Hospital, Hadassah, and B’Nai B’rith. She was the loving mother of two daughters: Joan Freidman of East Windsor and Wendy Houghton and her husband Russell Houghton of East Granby; proud “Nana” to Jenni Ferney and her husband, Brian of West Hartford, Amy Freidman of West Hartford, and Gregory Houghton of East Granby; Great-“Nana” to Nona Ferney; sister-in-law of Muriel (Mim) Schenker of Avon; and several cherished nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her devoted and beloved husband, Irving, brother Morton Schenker, and sister Frances Gould. Lenette’s family would like to extend its gratitude to her special and compassionate caregivers - Yvette, Maria, Ruby, Malika, and Erlean - and would also like to express appreciation for the unending support and kindness displayed to them over the years. Private funeral services were held on Friday, November 2, 2007, in the Beth El Temple Cemetery, Avon with Rabbi James Rosen officiating.
