Larry Malitz

Larry Malitz of West Hartford died at the age of 85 on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. He was the son of Isadore and Anna Malitz and loving husband of Marjorie (Sodafsky) Malitz. Born June 17, 1929 in Hartford, Larry graduated from Weaver High School (1947) and Hillyer College. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Barney Malitz and sisters, Eva Steinman and Sue Saltzman. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marjorie, as well as his son, Steven H. Malitz, Esq. and his wife Stacey Malitz of West Hartford; daughter, Leslie (Malitz) Kaim and her husband Dr. Steven Kaim of Longmeadow, MA, and three much beloved grandchildren, Ezra and Sadie Kaim and Eva Malitz. Above all else, Larry treasured and took great pride in his entire family. He was the consummate family man. He was loved by all for his gentleness, friendliness, warmth and good nature. Larry took a genuine interest in everyone he met. Larry was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He was the former owner of Guys and Dolls Childrens Shop at Bishops Corner. He then went on to a highly successful career with American Income Life Insurance. He was the recipient of many top sales awards annually. Simply put, he was an icon in his company. Larry was very passionate about his career and worked into his early 80’s. Larry was a long time member of Beth El Temple in West Hartford. The funeral will be held at Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave, West Hartford, CT on Thursday, November 20 at noon. Burial service to follow at Beth El Temple Cemetery, 51 Jackson St, Avon, CT. The family will receive visitors (Shiva) at the home of Steven and Stacey Malitz, 51 Cliffmore Road, West Hartford, CT, on Thursday following burial, Friday from 1pm to 4pm, Saturday evening and Sunday from 1-8 pm. The family would like to thank the staff at Hughes Health and Rehabilitation and all of his caregivers for their loving care and kindness. Donations can be made to Beth El Temple or a charity of your choice.
