Julene (Barr) Landsberg

Julene (Barr) Landsberg, 91, of Vernon passed away peacefully on Sunday December 14, 2014. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Arnold Landsberg, daughter Andrea Landsberg, son Larry Landsberg, and brother Albert Barr. Julie was born in Hartford on October 30, 1923, to the late Samuel and Lillian (Levy) Barr. Julie grew up in Hartford and was a graduate of Weaver High School, the class of 1941. After high school, she was employed at US Rubber and the phone company. She married Arnold in 1947 and moved to Manchester, where she very much enjoyed living and raising her family. She also worked at her husband’s business, Lane Music in Manchester and Vernon. Julie was an active member of the Manchester Senior Center and supporter of the Manchester Bicentennial Band Shell. As an avid duckpin bowler, Julie was proud that she was an active league player through age 86. She was also a skilled quilter and bridge player. Julie was a vibrant, caring, and elegant lady, who always had a smile and kind word. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Julie especially enjoyed family gatherings where her Thanksgiving, Passover, and Hanukkah feasts were prepared with love and cherished by all. Her overwhelming positive attitude never failed in spite of many challenges. She is survived by her son Edward and his wife Louann of Vernon, daughter-in-law Shaileen Landsberg of Milford, and sister Sharon McCarthy of Lake Worth,FL. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Michael and wife Jamie, Jeffrey and wife Rosemary, Jonathan and wife Stephanie, Robert, and Alicia. She was blessed with four great-grandchildren, Harrison, Olivia, Preston, and Avery. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Vernon Manor for Julie’s care. Funeral services wll be held at 11:30 on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford. Interment will follow in Congregation B’nai Sholom Cemetery, Jordan Lane Ext., Wethersfield.
