Judy F. Astman Goldberg

June 13, 1947 — April 22, 2026

Judy Faith Astman Goldberg passed away on April 22, 2026, in Sarasota, Florida. She was 78 years old.

Born in Rochester, New York, Judy was the daughter of the late George and Bertha Astman. She married at the age of 22 and lived in Rochester, Cleveland, Philadelphia and Hartford during her married and working life. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Connecticut State University and built a career as a corporate accountant before retiring to Sarasota, where she made a home that reflected everything she was — warm, engaged, and deeply connected to the people and world around her. Many of her beading and pottery items filled the house.

Those who knew Judy knew her heart first. She was generous without keeping score, kind in the way that felt entirely natural rather than performed, and creative in a way that spilled into everything she touched. Her beadwork and pottery weren’t just hobbies — they were expressions of a person who found beauty in making things with her hands. She played Mahjongg and Samba, but the games were really just a good excuse to be together with friends.

Judy gave that same energy to her community. She served as Treasurer of the Sarasota County Jewish Democratic Caucus and the Florida West Coast Bead Society — roles that suited her perfectly, combining her professional precision with her commitment to causes and communities that mattered to her.

She is survived by her beloved life partner, Lloyd Nurick; her daughter Stacie and son-in-law Dan; her son Jeffrey; her three grandchildren, Ethan, Shiloh, and Suri; her sisters Barbara and Carol and their husbands Tony and Jan; and her nieces Amy and Laura Baker and Kelly Chrisler.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Beth El Temple Cemetery, 51 Jackson Street, Avon, Connecticut. Arrangements are under the care of Weinstein Mortuary.
