Judith (Zietz) Tinsley

Judith Zietz Tinsley, 65 years of age, beloved wife of Dennis Tinsley, loving daughter of Lillian Rubin Zietz of Avon and the late Leon Zietz of West Hartford, passed away Wednesday, 25 May 2011 after a two year battle with brain cancer with her family at her bedside. Besides her husband and mother, Judith is also survived by her loving family including her brother Gerry Zietz of Avon; and her three children: Lisa Koch Rao of Bronxville, NY; Steven Koch of Orange, and Mark Koch of New York, NY . She also leaves behind three grandchildren: Lauren, Porter, and Rafi, as well as nieces and nephews and cousins. Judith was very accomplished at an early age, showing great musical and acting talent, as well as superior academic achievement. She went on to graduate from Skidmore College, and won a fellowship to the Yale School of Music. Judith received her Master’s Degree in Musical Education from Wesleyan University. Judith taught multi cultural music at Beecher Road Elementary School in Woodbridge for thirty one years, and served on the Hamden Arts Council before retirement. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, 31 May 2011 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford.
