Judith (Coleman) Lubinsky

Judith Joyce (Coleman) Lubinsky, 86, of Simsbury, Connecticut passed away on July 16, 2021 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Judy was born October 31, 1934 in Hartford, Connecticut to Samuel and Dora (Becker) Coleman where she grew up with her siblings, Martin, Earl, Saul, and Gordon. Judy was a graduate of Weaver High School, attended UCONN where she met Ted, the love of her life. They were married August 12, 1956. Judy was a skilled typist who used her talent as a legal secretary early in her career. After raising her family she began a new career as a clerk for the Assessor’s office for the Town of Bloomfield where she was adored by co-workers and the community. She was one of the founding members of the Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation where she served as past-president of Sisterhood. This allowed her to show off her passion for creative writing by coordinating skits and plays that were humorous and well received by the congregation. Judy made many lifelong friends during this time. In her retirement she played a vital role in the West Hartford Music and Arts Club where she enjoyed coordinating fashion shows for their annual fundraiser. Judy loved bringing family and friends together, always hosting holiday and birthday gatherings. Having been born on Halloween she had a special connection to the holiday. She especially enjoyed decorating the house with whimsical Halloween décor. Judy loved playing Mahjong with her friends, watercolor painting, baking, tap dancing, creative writing, puzzles, collecting recipes and playing board games with her grandchildren. Judy is survived by her brothers Earl Coleman of E. Hampton CT; Gordon Coleman of West Hartford CT; husband Theodore of Simsbury CT and their children Martin Lubinsky of Milton VT; Matthew Lubinsky of Simsbury CT and his fiancé, Carolyn Augur ; Ellen DiResta and her husband Jay of Ellington CT; Kenneth Lubinsky and his wife Koren of Colchester CT; Steven Lubinsky and his wife Jennifer of Harwinton, CT; and her eight cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Daniel, Mitchell, Coleman, Sarah, Vivian, Madisen and Gavin; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who adored her. Judy is predeceased by her brothers Martin Coleman and Saul Coleman and sisters-in-law Marjorie, Jean and Sylvia.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, July 20 at Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave, Hartford CT followed by burial at Hartford Mutual Society Memorial Park, 74 Wolcott Rd, Simsbury CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Judy’s name to a charity of choice.
