Judith (Sitrin) Hurwitz, 77, of West Hartford died Wednesday, November 5, 2008. Born in Utica, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles T. and Florence (Rosen) Sitrin. She graduated from Wellesley College in 1952 and she received a graduate degree in social work from Simmons School of Social Work. She was a life member of Hadassah and she was a member of Congregation Tikvoh Chadoshoh of Bloomfield. She was the beloved wife of Joseph D. Hurwitz; loving mother of Jonathan H. Hurwitz and his wife Mona Schnitzler of Brooklyn, NY, and Seth I. Hurwitz and his wife Eleanor Des Prez of St. Louis, MO; cherished grandmother of Benjamin, Daniel, Sophie, and Eliza; sister of Beverley Coleman and her husband M. Donald of Mamaroneck, NY and Ellen ?Oney? Arkin of Tel Aviv, Israel; and sisters-in-law, Sylvia Silver of West Hartford, and Dorothy Hurwitz of Bridgeport. Funeral services will be held FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Stephen Landau officiating. Interment will follow in the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, Wethersfield. Shiva will be observed at her home, 38 Henley Way, West Hartford.
