Joanne (Sharaf) Shechter

Joanne (Sharaf) Shechter, 84 years of age, of Prospect Ave., West Hartford, widow of Howard L. Goldberg, died Thursday, January 13, 2011. Born in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Edna (Hoffman) Sharaf. She retired after 25 years with CIGNA. Joanne was an active member of Congregation Beth Israel, West Hartford. She leaves two daughters: Patricia Shechter of West Hartford and Andrea Shechter of Seattle, WA, as well as a brother Robert Sharaf of Marco Island, FL. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 17, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Silberman Chapel of Congregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, with Cantor Pamela Siskin officiating. Interment will follow in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Avon. A memorial period will be observed at her home following the funeral on Monday after 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cantor Siskin Discretionary Fund at Congregation Beth Israel.
