Jetti Ieda (Moidel) Markowicz

Jetti Ieda Markowicz (nee Moidel), 75, of West Hartford, passed away suddenly on Sunday, (April 15, 2007) after a prolonged illness. She was the widow of Abe Markowicz. She was born in Kassel, Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1939 with her parents (Anna and Morris Moidel) and late brother Jacob. She graduated from Weaver High School in 1949. She was an active member of Beth Hillel Synagogue and a member of Hadassah, ORT and B’nai Brith. She worked for many years in the Bloomfield school system. Her children are Jeffrey and Andrea Markowicz (Irvine, California), Roberta Markowicz (Los Angeles, California), David and Janet Markowicz (Glastonbury, Ct), Jonathan and Neomit Dekel-Chen (Israel) and her four grandchildren in Israel. She is also survived by her loving sister, Lea Sherman (Florida) and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at Weinstein Mortuary on Wednesday, April 18th at 1:00 p.m. Shiva will be held at 63 Bainton Road, West Hartford on Wednesday and Thursday, April 18th and 19th at 7:30 p.m. Donations should be made in her name to Beth Hillel Synagogue.
