Jerome (E.) Evans, M.D.

Jerome E. Evans, M.D., 64, of Pheasant Hill Drive, West Hartford, died Monday, March 20th, 2006. Born in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of the late Louis and Mary (Rosenberg) Evans. Raised on Long Island, he graduated from Allegheny College, the University of Mississippi Medical School and did his internship at Buffalo General Hospital. He did his psychiatric residency at the Institute of Living, Hartford, and was associated with the Institute of Living for over 37 years in various positions, one of which was head of Adolescence Services. He was in private practice as well. Dr. Evans was a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the Hartford County Medical Association, an ASAP Fellow, and a Mason. He leaves his beloved and devoted wife of over 40 years, Claire (Cowan) Evans; a son Donald Cowan Evans and his wife Jill of Sherman Oaks, CA; a daughter Deborah Evans Bellusci and her husband Vincent of Orangeburg, NY; five grandchildren: William and Andrew Evans, and Alexandra, Olivia, and Evan Bellusci. He also leaves a brother Daniel Evans and his wife Susan of La Costa, CA; mother-in-law Victoria Cowan of Boca Raton, FL; and brother-in-law Steven Rosenthal, niece Gwendolyn, and nephew Brian, all of Fairfax, VA. He was predeceased by a twin brother, Allen George Evans, father-in-law Daniel Cowan, and sister-in-law Judith Rosenthal. Dr. Evans leaves many patients and friends to mourn him. He was always on call and available to anyone who needed him. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 24th at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center, c/o Hartford Hospital Fund Development, 80 Seymour St., Hartford 06102.
