Jeffrey (H.) Kontner

KONTNER, Jeffrey H. Kontner, 64, of Howard St., Enfield died suddenly Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Brigham & Womens Hospital, Boston, MA, while recovering from open heart surgery. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Leo and Edith Kontner. Jeffrey graduated from the University of Hartford, where he was a Charter Member and President of Tau Epsilon Phi Fraternity. He received a Master Degree in Public Policy from Trinity College in Hartford. Before retiring he served as Deputy Director of Emergency Management and Chief of Staff of the Hartford Fire Department. He leaves his wife, Debrah (Gutkin) Kontner; his children, Jennifer and David Kontner; and his sister, Suzanne F. Kontner of Enfield. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with interment in the Beth Hillel Synagogue Cemetery, Wolcott Rd., East Granby. A memorial period will be observed at his home, Wednesday following the funeral through Thursday evening.
