Jeanette (Goodman) Mendelson, 89, of West Hartford, CT, formerly of Norfolk, VA, widow of Abe Z. Mendelson, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007. Born in Portsmouth, VA, she was the daughter of the late Louis M. And Rebecca (Brady) Goodman. She was a life member Gomley Chessed Synagogue, Portsmouth, VA. She leaves a son, Dr. Louis M. Mendelson and his wife Marjorie of West Hartford; five grandchildren: David E. Mendelson of Washington, D.C., Andrew L. Mendelson of Nashville, TN, Dr. Ronald B. Levin and his wife Stephanie of Troy, MI, Scott Levin and his wife Betty Ann of Norfolk, VA, and Rebecca Levin and her partner Kathy Duvall of Washington, D.C.; great grandchildren: Elayna and Alex Levin and Emerson L. Duvall; her brother-in-law Dr. Arthur Siegel and his wife Mildred of Boca Raton, FL; and niece Sonja Fine and her husband Barry of Chapel Hill, NC. She was predeceased by her daughter, Elaine M. Levin. The family expresses its gratitude to Carrie Norfus, Joyce Crane and Stacey Ann Smith for their compassionate care; also to Haywood Cross of Virginia Beach, VA, and to Jack and Ronnie Moskowitz of Portsmouth, VA for their friendship. A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, August 3, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, VA. A memorial period will be observed at 4004 Ocean Front, Virginia Beach, VA 23451 on Saturday evening and Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor?s choice.
