Jane Field, 93, of West Hartford, passed away surrounded by her family on August 25, 2013. Jane was born in New Britain on April 9, 1920. She was predeceased by her husband, Nathan, to whom she was married for 54 years. She is survived by her daughters Emmy Fast and her husband, Steve, Robin Porges and her husband, Norm, and Shelly Gladstein and her husband, Marty. She enjoyed her grandchildren, Alison, Carolyn, Gerald, Kimberly, Kate, and Jaclyn; and her three great grandsons, Nathan, Aaron, and Daniel. She especially appreciated her dear friends, Eva, Annie, and Edyta. During World War II Jane worked as a quality control inspector for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. She then worked as a secretary at Imperial Nurseries and later, for many years, loved her work as an executive secretary at Cigna. After retiring, she volunteered with Jewish Literacy, reading to children at local elementary schools. She enjoyed classes at Beth El Temple and continued to play bridge weekly at the West Hartford Senior Center. She took especially great pride in following the adventures of her family. The funeral will be held Tuesday, August 27, at 1 p.m. at Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. Following the funeral the family will welcome friends at 46 Ranger Lane, West Hartford. There will be a service at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nathan Field Fund at Beth El Temple or to the American Heart Association.
