Irving (Emanuel) Hyman

Irving Emanuel Hyman, 93, passed away October 2, 2014. He was born July 1, 1921 in Hartford, son of the late Morris and Nettie (Berkowitz) Heimovitch. He graduated from Weaver High School in 1940. In World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Force in England. He then attended Baronian School of Watch Repairing in Philadelphia and had a long career as a watchmaker. He resided in West Hartford for the last 60 years. He enjoyed playing poker and pool, doing cryptograms, watching Yankees and UConn Huskies games and creating greeting cards on his computer. He was presented the Shofar Award for outstanding service on behalf of Jewish Boy Scouts. He was totally dedicated to his family his wife, Arline, who predeceased him, his two sons Richard S. Hyman of Santa Cruz, California and Myles K. Hyman and wife Hope of Delmar, New York and grandson Alex Hyman. He leaves his sister Shirley Karp and his brother Herbert Hyman and was predeceased by sister Roslyn Chaiklin and brother Saul Hyman. A funeral service will be held October 5, 11:00 a.m. at Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, followed by burial in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Avon and then a gathering at his home. Memorial donations may be made to the Jesse Feldman Fund, Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, 333 Bloomfield Ave, West Hartford, CT 06117 or a charity of the donor’s choice .
