Iris N. Meltzer

Iris N Meltzer of Peabody, MA passed on Friday April 25th at 91. She was surrounded by family through Thursday evening and Friday morning with other family visiting and calling in the days prior. She was the daughter of the late Rose and Joseph Nemeroff.

Iris was born and raised in Brooklyn. She raised a family first in Hartford and then in South Windsor, Ct.

She is survived by her children Lynn and husband Jeff, and son Barry and wife Mary-Ellen; her grandchildren Joseph and wife Addy, and Benjamin and wife Jackie; her great grandson Maxwell and great grandson due in August. Her husband had children from a prior marriage that she considered her own, son Jonathan; daughter-in-law Dona; and granddaughter Leah. She also virtually adopted Lynn’s stepsons David and Josh. She was predeceased by husband Irving, brother Robert, son (via Irving’s prior marriage) Dean, and grandson Max.

Iris’ life was filled with family, friends, and volunteerism. She had a way of bringing people together.

Services will be graveside 1:30 Tuesday 4/29 at the Wolkowysker Society Cemetery, 285 Tower Ave, Hartford, CT. Memorial gatherings will be held after the service; at Brooksby Village in the Kingsbury Clubhouse Wednesday 4/30 from 1 – 4; at Lynn and Jeffrey’s house Wednesday 4/30 from 6 – 9; at Mary-Ellen and Barry’s house Thursday 5/1 from 6 – 9. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hadassah (www.hadassah.org/donate).
