Ilya Remen

Ilya Remen, 59, of West Hartford, husband of Nina Remen and devoted father of Alla and Edward, passed away on Tuesday, (March 25, 2008) at Hughes Rehabilitation Center in West Hartford. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia on July 16, 1948, he was the son of the late Simon and Clara Remen. Ilya lived most of his life in Minsk, Belarus, where he served as an officer in the army and worked as an engineer in a chemical plant. Always concerned for his family?s best interest, Ilya was the driving force behind his family?s move to Connecticut on May 9, 1990. He loved to read Russian books, watch the latest movies, and travel both within the US and abroad. He is survived by his wife Nina Remen; daughter and son-in-law Alla and Frank Manni of Rocky Hill; son and daughter-in-law Edward and Tea Kaganovich and grand-daughter Sophico Katsitadze of Brooklyn, NY. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 11:30 am in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Avenue, West Hartford. Following the interment friends and family are welcome at Europe Restaurant, 141 Shield St, West Hartford to celebrate and remember Ilya?s life.
