Ida (Diamond) Thompson

Ida (Diamond) Thompson, 98 years of age, of West Hartford, died Saturday (December 1, 2012). She was the widow of Philip Thompson. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mamie Diamond. Ida lived in Boston and Brockton, MA before moving to West Hartford. She was an active member of Temple Israel of Brockton, MA and the Temple’s Sisterhood. She also established the Bingo program at the Temple. She leaves her sons, Michael H. Thompson and his wife Lois Helen Hilliard of West Hartford, and Harvey E. Thompson of Bloomfield; and two grandchildren, Aaron Thompson and Rachel Thompson. She was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara S. Thompson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. in the Silberman Chapel of Congregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Ave., West Hartford with Rabbi Michael Pincus officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Israel Section of Plymouth Rock Cemeteries, Brockton, MA with Rabbi H. Bruce Ehrmann officiating. A memorial period will be observed at the home of her son, Michael H. Thompson, 26 Montclair Dr., West Hartford, Tuesday following the interment through Thursday evening. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , 825 Brook Street, I-95 Tech Center, Rocky Hill 06067. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
