Ida “Iggy” W. Michaels, 84 of Bloomfield died Friday (June 10, 2005). She was the wife of the late George “Toddy” Michaels. Born in Hartford on July 15, 1920, to the late Morris and Rebecca Wiener she lived in Bloomfield for 52 years. She was a librarian in the Bloomfield School System for 25 years until her retirement in 1985. Prior to that she worked at the Aetna Insurance Company and proudly served in the WAC’s during World War II. In her retirement she worked as an election monitor. She and her late husband were charter members of the Beth Hillel Synagogue. She was active in the Bloomfield Senior Center and co-founder of the Shoppe at the Center. She was a member of the Jewish War Veterans. She is survived by her daughter Ellen Michaels of Branford; son Robert Michaels; daughter-in-law Nancy Gordon-Michaels; and grandsons David Michaels and Andrew Michaels of Randolph, NJ. Funeral services will be held TODAY at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford with burial in the Hartford Mutual Cemetery in East Granby. The family will receive visitors at 63 Scott Drive, Bloomfield through Wednesday evening June 15th.
