Howard (Irving) Lipsy

Howard “Howie” Irving Lipsy, 81, of Bloomfield, CT, passed away comfortably, Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013 surrounded by his family and friends. Howard was born to the late Samuel and Bessie (Bernblum) Lipsy, on August 4, 1931. He graduated Weaver High School and attended Hillyer College, which later became University of Hartford. He married the love of his life, Judith Lipsy, on December 13th, 1956 and soon moved to Bloomfield, CT where they lived together for the next 56 years. Howard worked for his father learning about sales and fine tuning his signature work ethic mentality; whether it pertained to his first job at Capital City Lumber, opening his first company Howard Products Inc., or at his other companies HDS Products and East Coast Panels, or working at Steeltech, Howard always strived to do the best he could for his family. After retiring in 1995, Howard spent much of his time on his sailboat during the warmer months, traveling with Judy on Elderhostel trips or relaxed at their time shares in Florida and the Catskills. Loved by almost every person that has met him, he will be most remembered for his one-of-a-kind sense of humor, easy laugh and extreme generosity towards others. Howard was a long-time member of the Congregation at Temple Beth Israel in West Hartford, CT and enjoyed watching football, playing cards and hearing stories of his grandchildren. Howard is survived by his wife, Judith (Rosnick) Lipsy, son David Lipsy, of Concord, NH, daughter JoAnne Lipsy, of Bloomfield, CT, son Jonathan Lipsy and wife Kim of Medfield, MA; and by his three grandchildren, Aden, Taylor and Nathan. His family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to all of the caregivers that have taken such wonderful, loving care of “Howie” over the past several years. Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm, Friday, April 26th, 2013 at Beth Israel Cemetery, 27 Jackson Street, Avon, CT 06001. Following interment, the family will receive family and friends at their home, 17 Maple Edge Drive, Bloomfield, CT until 6pm. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J.
