Hilda (Liener) Waitzman

Hilda (Liener) Waitzman, 86 years of age, of West Hartford, CT died Friday, June 5, 2009. She was the widow of Samuel Waitzman. Born in McKeesport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Morris and Rose (Spiegel) Liener. Hilda taught English at Morristown High School in Morristown, NJ. She also taught English as a second language to Russian immigrants in West Hartford. She was a lifelong educator, loved the arts, progressive causes, and the Yankees. She leaves her children, David M. Waitzman and his wife Marcia of West Hartford, CT, Norman J. Waitzman of Salt Lake City, UT, Mimi S. Waitzman and her husband Don MacKinnon of London, England, and Debby R. Waitzman of Hoboken, NJ; her grandchildren, Joshua Waitzman, Rachel Waitzman, Sarah Cover, Emma Waitzman, and Samuel MacKinnon; and her sisters, Jane Stein of Highland Park, NJ, Doris Kukin and her husband Ira of Orange, NJ, and Carol Deutsch and her husband Sid of Pittsburgh, PA; and her sister-in-law, Natalie Liener of New York. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 8, 2009 at 9:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Stephen Landau officiating. Interment will follow in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Cedar Knolls, NJ.. A memorial period will be observed at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, 22 High Point Lane, West Hartford, Tuesday and Wednesday 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Tikvoh Chadoshoh, 180 Still Rd., Bloomfield, CT 06002.
