Herbert Lederer

Dr. Herbert Lederer, formerly of Storrs, CT, died peacefully at the age of 86 on Wednesday, July 18, 2007. A scholar, educator and author for more than 40 years, Dr. Lederer served on the faculties of the University of Connecticut, Queens College (CUNY), Ohio University, Wabash College, and the summer language institute at Middlebury College. He was married for more than 50 years, until her death, to his beloved Eva Marie nee Hohenberg. He is survived by two children, Barbara Lederer of Simsbury CT, and George Lederer of Portland OR; and 3 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 20, 2007 at 1:00 PM at Temple Sinai, 41 West Hartford Rd, Newington, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Connecticut Foundation Herbert Lederer Fund, 2390 Alumni Dr., Unit 3206, Storrs, CT 06269. All are asked to join the family following the funeral at Summerwood Community, 160 Simsbury Rd., West Hartford, CT. The family will be observing shiva at the home of his daughter Sunday 4:00-8:00 pm with a minyan at 7:00 pm. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford, CT.
