Helen (Olivia Snyder) Rosenfield

Helen Olivia (Snyder) Rosenfield, 76, beloved wife for 55 years of Albert, of West Hartford, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, (November 29, 2006) at St. Francis Hospital. A life long native of Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Ada (Gershanoff) and Jacob Snyder. She was affectionately known as “Henke” to her loving family. Helen was a graduate of Weaver High School. She was an active participant of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Intensive Education Academy, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, a member of Hadassah, a Past President of the Sisterhood of Temple Beth Tefliah in East Hartford and a member of Tumblebrook Country Club and Emanuel Synagogue. Helen was a special friend to so many people primarily because of the love and laughter she gave and shared with others. Her ability to tell stories and jokes were enjoyed by all, as she possessed a unique ability to captivate a group of people. Helen was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her daughters Lorie Rosenfield Wexler and her husband Randolph of Trumbull and their two children, Benjamin and Mollie; and Adele Rosenfield Emmings and her husband Richard of Avon and their daughter, Elizabeth; and her son Gregg Rosenfield and his wife Phyllis of San Antonio, TX and their five children, Jessica, Rachel, Emily, Nicole and Jesse. Helen is also survived by her brother Leon “Red” Snyder of Miami, FL; and her sister Doris Williams of Westchester. She was predeceased by her brother Harry Snyder, and her sisters, Gertrude Morin and Natty Cutler. The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the extraordinary care and devotion of Dr. Bimapin Lahiri and the Medical ICU Staff at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, Dec. 3, at 1 p.m. at Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, with Rabbi David J. Small and Cantor Sanford Cohn officiating. Interment at Emanuel Cemetery in Wethersfield. A memorial period will be observed at her home, 44 Bainton Road, West Hartford on Sunday until 8 p.m., and from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and on Monday and Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe made to: Intensive Education Academy, Inc., 840 North Main St., West Hartford, CT 06117, Attn: Sister Helen Dowd, or St. Francis Hospital, The Medical Intensive Care Unit, 114 Woodland St., Hartford, CT 05105, or the Emanuel Synagogue, 160 Mohegan Dr., West Hartford, CT 06117.
