Helen R. (Cypel) Nachtigal, 85 years of age, of West Hartford died suddenly on Sunday, November 7, 2010 surrounded by her immediate family. Born in Poland, she was the daughter of the late Baruch and Leah (Rubin) Cypel. A Holocaust survivor, she lived in Israel for many years, and arrived in the United States with her family in 1961. She was a member of the United Synagogues of Greater Hartford in West Hartford, and Hadassah. Helen was the beloved wife of Sam; cherished ‘ima’ mother of Jayne Mead of Leonia, NJ, Mark Nachtigal and his wife Barbara of West Hartford, and Rose Blum of West Hartford. She was also survived by ten loving grandchildren, and two great grandsons. She was predeceased by her first born infant son Baruch; her beloved family who perished in the Holocaust; as well as by two brothers who died in Israel. Funeral services will be held TODAY, Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Edward Cohen officiating. Interment will follow in United Synagogues of Greater Hartford Memorial Park, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield.Shiva will be observed at the home of her son: 55 Farmstead Lane, West Hartford, CT 06117 Tuesday following the funeral and 4-8 p.m., and Wednesday and Thursday evening, 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Synagogues of Greater Hartford, P.O.
