Master Sgt. Harry M. Passaro, 70, of 96 D Welton Way, died Saturday, January 7, 2017 unexpectedly.

He leaves his wife of 28 years, Patricia (Arcovio) Passaro; 2 daughters, Stacie (Passaro) Fallon and her husband, Mark, of Harwinton and Jamie LoSchiavo, of Oakville; 3 sons, Kyle Passaro, of Torrington, Chad Passaro, of Waterbury and Gus LoSchiavo, of Cheshire; 5 grandchildren, David, Emma, Justin, Brooke and Alessia Mae; along with his brother-in-law and sister-in-laws, Diane (Arcovio) Correa and her husband, Ernie, of Waterbury, Frank Arcovio Jr. and his wife, Rhonda, of Naugatuck, Lisa (Arcovio) Coleman, of Waterbury and Gloria Jean (Arcovio) Archambault (deceased); and Father-in-law, Frank Arcovio Sr.

Master Sgt. Passaro was born in High Point, N.C., son of Frank S. and Charlotte (Kalechman) Passaro and lived in Waterbury many years before moving to Thomaston one year ago. Master Sgt. Passaro graduated from Croft High School in Waterbury and attended the University of Hartford for two years before joining the Air Force.

Master Sgt. Passaro was a 32-year veteran of the armed services before he retired from the Connecticut National Guard in 2001. He was a highly decorated soldier with accomplishments throughout his whole military career. He received several distinguishing medals including the Bronze Star for his meritorious service as security police liaison in the Vietnam War Room as senior communication plotter while engaged in ground operations against an opposing armed force at his 6255th Air Force Base Squadron, Binh Thuy Air Base, Republic of Vietnam. He was a proud Vietnam veteran as well as an American Armed Service Veteran.

Besides his military career, he was a loving grandfather, caring father and a loyal, devoted, affectionate husband. He lived his life for his family and was always there for all when he was needed. Master Sergeant Harry Passaro, or as most people knew him, Butch, will be sadly missed by everyone who was gracious enough to have their heart touched by him.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2016 at the Hartford City Lodge Cemetery, Tower Ave., Hartford. No flowers, please.
