Gloria (Bobrow) Byk

Gloria (Bobrow) Byk, 77 years of age, of Manchester, died Friday, August 21, 2009 at Hartford Hospital. Born in The Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Ida (Brown) Bobrow. Gloria began her travel career as a sales representative for the former Travelrama in Hartford and went on to become the Connecticut sales representative for El Al Israel Airlines. She was a member of Temple Beth Sholom of Manchester, a member of the Temple Sisterhood, and a Life member of Hadassah. She was the loving wife for 55 years of Herbert Byk. She also leaves her sons, Stephen L. Byk and his companion Tina Luke of Greenwich, NY, and James A. Byk of New York, NY; her sister, Florence Hodes of Roslyn Harbor, NY; two nieces, Pearl Hammer Hymes and her husband Dr. Kenneth Hymes, and their daughter Marla, and Debra Hodes Prevor and her husband Jim Prevor and their sons William and Matthew. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 23 at 11:00 AM at Temple Beth Sholom Memorial Park, Autumn St., Manchester with Cantor Anita Schubert officiating. Shiva will be observed at her home, 122 Richmond Drive, Manchester, Sunday following the funeral through Tuesday evening.
