Gertrude Katz

Gertrude Katz, 84, of Boca Raton, FL, formerly of West Hartford and Bloomfield, died Thursday (January 29, 2009). She leaves a sister, Esther Katz Dumoff and her husband Bernard, niece Nan Schwartz, nephews Lawrence Dumoff, Abner Dumoff, Marvin Katz, Jon Katz, great nephew Mathew Diamond and great niece Ana Dumoff . Gertrude was predeceased by her three brothers, and her sister Roslyn Katz. Gertrude was born and raised in Hartford, and after attending college for a short time, she moved to New York and worked in the city for many years. She returned to Connecticut in 1959 and joined her sister in business at Modern Woman in West Hartford Center until 1984 when the business closed and she retired. After living in Bloomfield for several years she moved to Boca Raton, FL and remained there until her passing. A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 2, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., P.
