Gerald Maritzer, 89 of Farmington, CT, formerly of Bloomfield, CT died peacefully and surrounded by family at home on August 21, 2018. Born in Montreal, Canada, Gerry was the son of the late Mark and Mary (Friedman) Maritzer. He was a hardworking and passionate baker with a lifelong gift of imbuing the world with kindness.

Gerry was the beloved and devoted husband for 67 years to Hannah (Singerman) Maritzer, father of Allan Maritzer and his wife Lorraine; Susan Catsam and her husband Nick; Shelly Maritzer-Lawrence and her husband John Lawrence; Marla Maritzer and her wife Lisa McGrath; Diana Miller, grandfather of Scott Maritzer and his wife Danielle; Steven Maritzer and his wife Dulce; Ashley Contreras and her husband Christian; Marissa McDonald and her husband Brandon; Jessica Raitto and her wife Jenn; Daryn Catsam and his wife Kate; Matt Catsam; Nicholas Catsam and his wife Jenny Müller; Melissa Catsam; the late Joshua Maritzer-Lawrence; Aaron Maritzer-Lawrence, great-grandfather of Wynter and Sterling Maritzer; Madelina, Mason and Logan Contreras, brother of Shirley Miller of Vancouver, Canada and the late Alvin Maritzer.He was also uncle, cousin, nephew and dear friend to many. Gerry was a generous and loving person of great integrity and equanimity. We are enormously grateful for the happiness, humor and joy that he brought to our lives.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, August 23, 2018 in the Sanctuary of Congregation Kol Haverim, 1079 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury, CT. Interment will follow in Congregation Kol Haverim Cemetery, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT. Immediately following the interment the family will receive relatives and friends at Kol Haverim, 1079 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury, CT. Shiva will be observed at the Maritzer home, 299 Colt Highway, Apartment 111 on Thursday, August 23rd at 6:30pm, Friday at 4:00pm, Saturday at 6:00pm, and Sunday at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Congregation Kol Haverim, Masonicare Partners Hospice or National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford, CT.
