Frank Rosenfield, 95, of Bloomfield, passed away in his wife’s arms on the morning of September 5, 2013 after a short illness. He leaves to mourn, his beloved wife of almost 73 years, his high school sweetheart, Shirley Solomon Rosenfield. He also leaves his beloved daughter, Sandra Rosenfield Goldberg and son-in-law Bruce Goldberg. Born in Springfield, MA on December 14, 1917, Frank attended Hartford schools, graduating from Weaver High School, class of 1936B. He owned Capitol City Tailor and Clothier in the North End of Hartford along with his parents. Later he worked for many department stores in the Greater Hartford area. For many years, he moonlighted playing saxophone and clarinet in his own band. After retirement, he and Shirley volunteered at the Hebrew Home and Hospital for 24 years, receiving the Volunteers of the Year Award. He was also a member of the Hartford Mutual Society and the Seniors at the Greater Hartford Jewish Community Center. Frank was a quiet, kind, good man - a real “mensch”. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him - especially his beloved grandchildren: David and Adrienne Goldberg, Jeffrey and Rebecca Goldberg and Lori (Goldberg) and Darren Gleeman and his adored great -grandchildren Maddie and Kate Goldberg, Zachary, Shoshana and Gabriel Goldberg and Jonah and Ben Gleeman. He was predeceased by his parents Nellie and Jacob Rosenfield, his sister Ruth Rosenfield Stein and his brother Hyman Rosenfield. He also leaves many nieces and nephews whom he loved. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2013 in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, with Rabbi Ilana Garber officiating. Interment will follow at the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, Wolcott Rd., East Granby. A memorial period will be observed Sunday following the interment at the home of his daughter and son-in-law Sandy and Bruce Goldberg, 79 Brainard Road, West Hartford through Tuesday evening.
