Frances Jacobson, nee Franczeka Singer, 94 years old, died Friday, May 6, 2005 at Hartford Hospital. She was born in Altona, Germany, a suburb of Hamburg, where she grew up. She married Leonard Jacobson also of Hamburg in 1936. They immigrated to the United States as refugees from Nazi Germany with their daughter Ruth in April 1939. They settled initially in Brooklyn, NY and then Manhattan and from there to Forest Hills, Queens where they lived for many years before moving to West Hartford in 1988. Frances was renowned for her culinary skills and her love of classical music. She is survived by her daughter Dr. Ruth Kahn and her son-in-law, Dr. Michael D. Kahn of West Hartford, and three grandchildren: Kin Lee Kahn and her husband Steven Pallrand of Los Angeles, CA, Dr. Tamara Kahn and her husband David Carol of Syosett, Long Island, and Attorney Benjamin Kahn of Denver, CO; four great grandchildren: Max and Theo Carol, Eli Pallrand, and Morgan Fitzgerald. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 8, 2005 at 9:00 AM in the Chapel of Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford with Rabbi Yitzchok Adler officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus, NJ.
