Florence (Dorfman) Potish

Florence (Dorfman) Potish of Farmington died on Thursday, January 11, 2007. She was the widow of Max Potish, who died September 13, 2006. They were married for 61 years. She was a wonderful and spirited woman and will be missed by her family and everyone who knew her. She was born in Hartford, daughter of the late Benjamin and Ida (Millstein) Dorfman. Florence graduated from Weaver High School in 1939 and was a graduate of the Brooklyn Jewish School of Nursing. She served as a Lieutenant in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. She was proud of her nursing career and was a former supervisor of nursing at the Hebrew Home for the Aged, Tower Ave., Hartford. Florence also worked for the State of Connecticut as a nursing home inspector. A long time resident of Bloomfield, she enjoyed her years in Boca Raton, FL with her late husband, Max. She was a long time member of the Beth Hillel Synagogue of Bloomfield. She leaves a daughter, Barbara Potish Parlee with her husband Harry Parlee of Bristol; son, Marc Potish of Farmington and Karen Kloter; a sister, Estelle Ball of Bloomfield; nieces, Claudia Jacobson, Hillary Gebler, Elyse Ball Nolls, nephews, David Dorfman, Jeffrey Dorfman and Marshall Dorfman, and Greg Ball; and other family members. She was predeceased by her brother, Myron Dorfman and her sister, Shirley Sloane. Private funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2007 at the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, 15 Wolcott Road, East Granby with Rabbi Philip Lazowski officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hebrew Home and Hospital, 1 Abrahms Blvd., West Hartford, 06117. Arrangements are entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
