Estelle (Shaplan) Stone

Estelle Stone, 92, formerly of Rockville and Boca Raton, FL passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 after a long illness. Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1917, daughter of Charles and Anna Shaplan, she was predeceased by her two brothers Lou and Burt Shaplan, and her sister Gertrude Fox, as well as her beloved husband Harold and their son Richard. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Caron (Norman) Alderman of Branford, son Charles Stone of Boca Raton, FL, grandchildren Jason (Suzanne) Alderman, Ian (Rachel) Alderman, and darling great-grandchildren Ellie and Max Alderman. Estelle had many interests including the performing arts, and herself excelled as an actress and singer throughout her life. Her love of family and courage in times of adversity will long be remembered by all who knew her. A graveside funeral will be held at Knesseth Israel Synagogue Cemetery in Ellington on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. A period of mourning will be held at the home of Caron and Norman Alderman, 9 Harbor St., Branford, CT through Tuesday evening, February 17, 2009. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements entrusted to Weinstein Mortuary, Hartford.
