Elliott Stern

Elliott Stern, 79, resident of Vancouver, WA died January 19, 2007 following a lengthy illness. He was formerly a resident of Bloomfield, CT and then Budd Lake, NJ. Mr. Stern was born in New York City to William and Sophie (Putzer) Stern. After service in the United States Navy during WW II, Mr. Stern worked for many years with E.J. Korvettes. He spent a brief retirement in Boca Raton, FL, before moving to the Northwest to be closer to his younger daughter, who helped care for him. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Marilyn Stern of Brattleboro, VT, daughters Robin Stern and her husband Potter Stewart, Jr. of Brattleboro, VT, and Beth Stern and her partner Don Grady of Vancouver, WA, and a brother, Melvin Stern and his wife Adrienne of Ventura, CA. He is also survived by his two beloved granddaughters, Sybil Idelkope and Isabel Stewart of Brattleboro, VT, and nieces and nephews. Elliott was a loving and compassionate husband, father and friend. He was an avid athlete and a terrific dancer. He will be missed by the loving and supportive community at Heritage Health and Rehabilitation Center, Vancouver, WA where he was a resident for the last several years. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with interment in the Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, East Granby.
