Elliot Ginden

d. January 1, 1970

Elliot Ginden liked to say that he grew up too poor to have a middle name. That was the kind of self-deprecating humor that endeared him to so many.Born in Brooklyn on June 3, 1928 to Ada (Diamond) and Albert Ginden, he was the youngest of three sons, coming in to this world 10 minutes after his identical twin brother Norman. The family moved to New Haven in 1940. After graduating from Hillhouse High School, Elliot served in Korea from 1946-1948. He then went on to Syracuse University, graduating in 1951 and working for many years in the aerospace industry.

In 1955 Elliot married Barbara Shafer and they raised their two sons, David and Robert, in West Hartford.

Elliot will be remembered for his sweet disposition, his passion for the Red Sox and Giants, his avid reading and, most importantly, his love for his family. If you look up adoring grandparent in the dictionary, you will find Elliot’s name there.

Elliot is predeceased by his brothers Martin and Norman. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, son David and his wife Sheri of West Hartford, and son Robert and his wife Peggy of Amston. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Mathew and Victoria Ginden, Benjamin Ginden, Jacob Ginden, and Blair Ginden and her fiancé Jack Pintavalle.

The family would like to thank Anna, Justina and staff of Station 2 in Avery Heights for their kind care. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 pm today at the Congregation Beth Israel Cemetery, 51 Jackson Street, Avon with Rabbi Michael Pincus officiating. Immediately following the internment, the family will receive family and friends at the home of David and Sheri Ginden. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimers Association.
