Elaine (Sklar) Chaet

Elaine Betty (Sklar) Chaet, 89 years of age, of West Hartford died Friday, January 13, 2017 peacefully at home. She was the widow of Howard Chaet. Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Sophie (Cohen) Sklar. Elaine attended public school through high school in the Bronx New York. After her 1949 wedding, Elaine worked alongside her husband while raising her two daughters. Elaine was a member of different organizations including the Jewish Women International. She leaves her daughters, Linda Hecht and her husband Norman of West Hartford, and Marilyn Krutt and her husband Samuel of Vernon; her brother, Herbert Sklar and his wife Bernice of NY; grandchildren Penina Cooper and her husband Eric of Damascus Maryland, Paula Tracy and her husband James of Vernon, and Heidi Maynard and her husband Jeremy of Wethersfield; and great-grandchildren, Kayla Caron, Ethan, Sophia and Hannah Cooper, Brandon and Dylan Maynard, and Jordan Tracy.

Graveside funeral services will be at 1:30 PM on Monday, January 16, 2017 at the United Synagogues of Greater Hartford Memorial Park, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, with Rabbi David J. Small officiating. Following the interment through Wednesday, Shiva will be observed at the home of her daughter, Linda Hecht, 144 Mohegan Drive, West Hartford. On Monday Shiva will be observed till 5:30 PM and from 7 to 9 PM. On Tuesday and Wednesday Shiva will be from noon till 4 PM. Minyan on Monday will be held at the home of Linda Hecht. Tuesday and Wednesday Minyan will be held at Emanuel Synagogue.
