Eileen Kaufman Rosson, 76 years of age, beloved wife of Dr. Robert S. Rosson, died Monday, August 30, at home in West Hartford, CT after a long illness. She and her husband also had a home in Meredith, NH on Lake Winnisquam for 12 years. Born May 2, 1934, in Hartford, CT, she was a daughter of the late Ezra Jerome Kaufman and Ella Becker Kaufman of West Hartford, CT. She was a 1952 graduate of the Chaffee School in Windsor, CT and a 1956 graduate of Smith College in Northampton, MA. She earned a Master’s degree in Education from Boston University in 1957 and taught second grade in the Norwood, MA public schools from 1957 to 1960. In 1985 she earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Connecticut. She worked as a clinical social worker at Jewish Family Services in West Hartford, CT from 1986 to 2001. Among her many civic contributions, Eileen served on the Loomis Chaffee School Board of Trustees, the Wadsworth Atheneum Women’s Committee, the Hartford Hospital Auxiliary, the Waldron Bay Lot Owners Association Board and the United Way Allocations Committee. In addition to her husband of 53 years, Eileen is survived by three children: Julia Rosson Small and her husband Daniel of Chevy Chase, MD, Andrew D. Rosson and his wife Susan of Rye Brook, NY, and Richard D. Rosson of Ashland, MA; five grandchildren: Jacob, Anna and Maya Small, and Joshua and Scott Rosson; and a sister: Ruth Kaufman Shulansky of Bloomfield. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 1, at 12:30 pm in the Sanctuary of Beth El Temple, 2626 Albany Ave, West Hartford, CT with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. Interment will follow in Beth El Temple Cemetery, 51 Jackson Street, Avon. The family will sit shiva at home Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm; Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm; and Friday from 2 to 4 pm.
