Edythe (Kaplan) Waxman

Edythe K. Waxman of West Hartford, formerly of Bloomfield passed away at Hartford Hospital, Tuesday, June 19,2012 after losing her brave battle with cancer. Born in Meriden, daughter of the later William and Esther Kaplan, Edythe attended the University of Connecticut and had worked at the former Bloomfield State Bank for many years. She is survived by her two devoted daughters: Vicki Callahan of Bloomfield and Shelley Waxman of Avon; grandsons Scott Callahan of Providence, RI and David Callahan of Bloomfield. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ed and Jess Waxman, nieces and nephews William Pfeffer, Karen (Dave) Blovish, Eliot (Jenni) Waxman, Rabbi Deborah (Christina) Waxman and Andy Waxman, as well as three great nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Leonard, sister, Janice Pfeffer, and son-in-law Jay Callahan. She will missed by many close friends and the Old Colony Beach family. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Gary Atkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Beth Hillel Synagogue Cemetery, East Granby. A memorial period will be observed at her home, 16 Shipston Dr., West Hartford following the interment through Sunday, 4 pm. Her family would like to thank Dr Robert Siegel and his staff as well as the staff at Hartford Hospital Conklin 2 for their wonderful care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Melanoma Research Foundation C/O Dr Jane Grant-Kels, University of Connecticut Dermatology Dept, Farmington Ave, Farmington, 06032, or to Beth Hillel Synagogue, 160 Wintonbury Ave, Bloomfield 06002.
