Edythe (Phyllis Littman) Goldberg

Edythe Phyllis (Littman) Goldberg, 67, of Cliffmount Dr., Bloomfield, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, June 24, 2008. Born in New London, January 17, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Sidney and Stelle (Gruskin) Littman. Edy attended grammar school in New London as well as New London High School, graduating in 1959. Following high school, Edy attended Chandler Secretarial School before enrolling at New York University, where she graduated in 1964. Edy attended graduate school at the University of Connecticut, graduating in 1969. She taught Business at Fitch Senior High School in Groton for 11 years. After moving to the Hartford area, Edy continued her love of teaching at Bloomfield High School until 1978. She married Marvin Goldberg of Bloomfield on July 27, 1975, who survives her. She is also survived by her treasured daughter Amy Goldberg and her husband Paul Bristol of Glastonbury, her sister Zena Bokoff of Norwich, her aunt Beatrice Weiss of Hollywood, FL, and several nieces and nephews. Edy was active in the Beth Hillel Sisterhood and was an avid annual volunteer at the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Sanctuary of Beth Hillel Synagogue, 160 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield with interment following in the John Hay Memorial Park Cemetery, Hartford. Shiva will be observed at her home, 55 Cliffmount Dr., Bloomfield, Saturday evening from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 12:00 Noon on. Memorial contributions may be made to the Beth Hillel Synagogue Education Fund, or to Muscular Dystrophy Association, 148 Eastern Blvd., Glastonbury 06033.
