Edward M. Vipler passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, in South Windsor. Born in Albany, he was the son of Samuel and Faye (Gaies) Vipler. Ed graduated from Union College with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and later earned his MBA from Western New England University. He proudly served in the US Army Reserve.
After graduating, Ed moved to Connecticut to begin his career and start his family and resided in Windsor Locks and West Hartford. He was hired by Northeast Utilities as a Cadet Engineer and remained with the company throughout his career, retiring as Coordinator of System Practices at CONVEX in Southington.
Ed was a dedicated volunteer who generously gave his time to organizations and events including the Greater Hartford Open, The Bushnell, Junior Achievement, and the Jaycees.
He and his wife enjoyed traveling, attending jazz concerts, going to happy hour, and spending time with family and friends. His hobbies included golf, stamp collecting, and bowling. Above all, he cherished time with his grandchildren—watching their sporting events and attending their musical concerts and recitals.
Ed leaves behind his two daughters, Randi Hewitt and her children, Travis and Olivia, of South Windsor; and Nanci Stolgitis, her husband Mike, and their children, Ryan, Kevin, and Kendall. He is also survived by his three brothers, Howard and his wife Sandie, David, and Marvin and his wife Elaine; and his sister-in-law, Jeanne Rogers, and her husband Tom. He is predeceased by his wife Ruby.
Services and burial will be held privately. The family is grateful for the love and care provided by the staff at the Residence at South Windsor Farms.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ed’s memory to The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts or Union College.
