Edith (Sack) Sasportas

Edith (Sack) Sasportas, 86, formerly of West Hartford, died Thursday, February 16 at Boca Raton, Florida. Edith was born in Russia, the daughter of Solomon and Nessie Sack. She was a graduate of Hartford’s Weaver High School, Class of 1937 and lived most of her life in West Hartford, until moving to Delray Beach, FL seven years ago. Edith was employed for 25 years at Lord and Taylor’s, West Hartford, where she was best known for her work as one of the original “personal shoppers”, helping customers with her unique talent for fashion. She leaves Max Sasportas, her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Michael Schwartz of Boynton Beach, FL, and a son and daughter-in-law, David and Lorrell Sasportas of West Hartford; six loving grandchildren and seven wonderful great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harry Sack and his wife, May of West Hartford, and Alan Sack and his wife, Bonnie of Sharon, MA. She was predeceased by a son, Howard Sasportas, a sister Barbara Nison, and a brother Sidney Sack. A graveside funeral service will be held Sunday, March 5 at 10:45 am, in the Jonathan Welfare Society Cemetery, Tower Ave., Hartford. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice by the Sea, 1531 W.
