EDITH S. ROSTAS , 102 of Bloomfield, widow of Steven M. Rostas, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010 at her home. The daughter of Dr. And Mrs. Paul Sebestyen, she was born in Hungary on January 23, 1908. She attended college in Lausanne, Switzerland, earning a Baccalaureate degree. Then she enrolled at the University of Lausanne and obtained a ?license? (Master’s degree) in French literature. In 1934 she married Steven Rostas. After living in Budapest for several years, they came to the United States. Edith taught at the Bemente School in Old Deerfield, MA, from 1943 until 1973. She was a member, and eventually became a full professor, of the French Department at Mt. Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA. In 1989 the Rostas’ moved from their home in Amherst, MA to Duncaster in Bloomfield, CT. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Wildwood Cemetery, Amherst, MA. Contributions in her memory may be made to the ?Edith Sebestyen Rostas? prize at Mt.
