Dorothy (Kaplan) Miller

Dorothy (Kaplan) Miller, 86, of Bloomfield, devoted wife of 51 years of Joseph A. Miller, took life’s final bow on Wednesday (March 8, 2006) in the loving arms of her family. She was born on October 25, 1919, in Hartford to Henry and Annie Kaplan. Besides her husband, she leaves her children: Michael and Rebecca Miller, Sandra Miller, Leslie Ellen and John (Rudy) Richardson all of West Hartford, Tami Battaglio and Richard DePault of Canton, and Nicholas Battaglio, Jr. of Burlington; her grandchildren: Brian Miller, Scott and Emily Miller, Robert and Alison Miller, Matthew and Rebecca Brainerd, Jeffrey Brainerd and Melanie Ghosh, Johnhenri Richardson, Tomilyn and Steven Thomas, Kyle Richardson and Nicholas Battaglio, III; her great grandchildren: Hannah, Kyle, Gabriella, Dylan, Sydney, Nayan and Macklin; her brothers and sisters-in-law: Melvin (Sonny) Kane, Nathan and Joyce Kaplan and Pauline Goldstein and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Charlotte and Charles Kargman; a sister-in-law Judith Kaplan and a brother-in-law Isadore Goldstein. Dorothy was known to her friends as Dottie the Dancing Girl because of her many years in local theater and many dance performances. She was a secretary for the Hartford School system and later volunteered at the Hebrew Home and Hospital. Funeral services will be held at Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, on Friday, March 10, at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Hartford Mutual Society Cemetery, East Granby. A memorial period will be observed at the home of her daughter, Leslie, 18 Harwich Lane (Tumblebrook Estates), West Hartford, Friday, following the funeral and Sunday from 11 am-3pm.
