Dorothy (Ticotsky) Kanell, of Steele Road, West Hartford, formerly of New Haven, died Thursday, February 26, 2009. She was the wife of Judge Samuel Kanell, a former Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Transportation. Born in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lena (Rosenblum) Tickotsky. Her family owned and operated Ticotsky?s Bakery for over 40 years. A former member of Temple Beth Tikvah of Madison, she was a member of Congregation Beth Israel, West Hartford. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Joseph Kanell and his wife Rochelle of Northford; a daughter Gail Mangs and her husband David of West Hartford; and five grandchildren: Aidan, Caitlin, Matthew and Adam, and Erica and her husband Sascha. Funeral services are private. A memorial period will be observed at the home of her daughter, Gail Mangs, 18 Fernbrook West Hartford, on Sunday after 3:00 PM.
