Doris (E.) Horenstein

Doris E. (Brown) Horenstein, age 88, of Bloomfield, CT died Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Born and raised in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bertha Brown.

After graduating from William H. Taft High School in New York City, Doris worked as a secretary and then as a catering manager. But the role that was most important to her, and which brought her tremendous joy, was that of wife, mother, and grandma.

Doris leaves behind her beloved husband, Jay S. Horenstein, of more than 55 years; her son John D. Horenstein, daughter-in-law Melissa and grandchildren Emily, Katie and Jacob,, of Plainview, Long Island, NY; and her son Kenneth P. Horenstein, daughter-in-law Lauren Krasnow and grandchildren Josh and Rachel Horenstein, of West Hartford.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Sunday, April 8, 2018, in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Jeffrey Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Sinai Memorial Park, 41 West Hartford Rd., Newington. Following the interment, the family will receive relatives and friends at a shiva at 2 Hatheway Drive in West Hartford until 6:00 pm..
