Doris Baron Golinsky, 93 of West Hartford, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2017. Doris was born in Hartford, CT on June 13, 1924, daughter of the late Louis and Esther (Tucker) Baron. She grew up in Hartford and graduated from Weaver High School. She later moved to West Hartford and Avon returning to Hoffman SummerWood Community in West Hartford for the last 5 ½ years. She married Herb, her adoring husband, sharing a wonderful 70 year marriage. She spent many summers of her life at Crescent Beach in Niantic and winters in Florida. Doris’ main passion was her family. Nothing was more important to her than hosting the holidays and cooking Jewish specialties. Her excellent cooking was something everyone looked forward to and brought the entire family together. She was a very charitable donor and volunteer to Hadassah, Jewish Federation, the Hebrew Home and Mount Sinai Hospital. She and Herb were charter members of Beth El Temple and Cliffside Country Club. Doris loved writing poetry and musical shows. Her birthday, anniversary and holiday cards always included humorous poems. Musical shows were written as fund raisers or testimonials to people being honored. Her talents were sought after by many organizations, schools and people for her clever lyrics. She loved reading, music, dance and the theater. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband Herb, her loving daughter Iris Spungin and son-in-law Eric, three grandchildren, Lindsay Donovan and husband William, Gregory Spungin and Emily Golinsky and her wife Michelle Cyr and two great grandchildren Jack and Elle Donovan, daughter-in-law Gail Golinsky and brother Irwin Baron and his wife Faye. She was predeceased by her treasured son Jed and sister-in-law Joyce Baron. Doris will always be remembered by her many special nieces, nephews and close friends Faye and Irv Krantz. The family is grateful for and appreciative of the compassionate caregivers at Home Instead and SummerWood who contributed greatly to making Doris’ last years so comfortable. We particularly want to thank Dr. Ralph Rosenberg for his dedicated care. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday August 24, 2017 in the chapel of Weinstein Mortuary 640 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, CT with Rabbi James Rosen officiating.
