David P. Ward, born April 6, 1939, in Hartford, CT to Samuel I. Ward and Jeanette Ward, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025.
A graduate of Conard High School, he attended Boston University before enlisting in the U.S. Army.While In Boston he met Cindy Dannin, the love of his life whom he married in 1965 and had 56 years together until Cindy’s death in 2022.
After his honorable discharge from the Army, David became President and CEO of Crystalab Inc., a manufacturer of water filtration equipment, which he sold in 1998.David had an eclectic range of interests, which included food, cooking, stamp collecting, gardening, reading, and tinkering in his workshop. He was also a history buff, with a particular focus on U.S. Military and Israeli history.
He was active at Congregation Beth Israel, Head Usher for many decades, Brotherhood past president, member of The Jewish Ward Veterans, and life member of the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture at The University of Hartford (Formerly the Samuel I. Ward College of Technology and Architecture, founded by his father).
He is survived by his sons and their spouses; Charles D. Ward (Michelle), and Douglas Ward (Laura), and 4 grandchildren; Marissa & Sam Ward, and Jensen & Brooke Ward.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 25th at 9:30 am at The Beth Israel Cemetery, 119 Affleck Street Hartford, Connecticut 06106.We will be sitting shiva Wednesday evening and Thursday evening from 6:30 – 8:30 with a brief service at 7pm. 81 Blue Ridge Drive, Simsbury, CT 06070.In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the rabbi’s discretionary fund at Congregation Beth Israel, or The Samuel I.
