Clara (Weintraub) Scholnick,96, of West Hartford formerly of Detroit,MI and Aventura,FL died peacefully on April 30,2018. She was born on Jan.29,1922 in Detroit to Rachel and Abraham Weintraub, the youngest of 4 girls. She was the widow of Theodore (Ted) Scholnick to whom she was married for 59 years and worked as a bookeeper in the family business. She was a devoted mother to 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. To Clara, her legacy is/was her devoted family. Clara is survived by her children - Phyllis & Sidney Ulreich, Mark Scholnick, Martha & Joseph Stewart, and Abby & Craig Rubenstein; grandchildren-Alisa & Jonathon Gellis, Debbie & Benjamin Waltuch, Tzvi-Elie & Yedid-El Scholnick, Elie & Ariel Stewart, Shayni & Levi Stewart, Jacob & Jessica Rubenstein; and finally (her greatest joy) great-grandchildren-Rebecca & Joe Klein, Talya, David & Maayan Gellis, Leora, Adira, & Ari Waltuch, #8 Sloan Stewart. A graveside funeral will be held in Florida on Wed May 2. Following the burial the family will observe shiva in West Hartford, Detroit and California.The family would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to the wonderful caregivers and staff at the McAuley and Jewish Family Services as well as the compassionate care from the McLean Hospice Service and the aides from ComForCare.Donations in Clara’s memory can be made to a charity of ones choice.
