Claire Fannie (Mann) Yaffa

Claire Fannie (Mann) Yaffa, 100 years of age, of West Hartford, CT died Saturday, March 6, 2021. She was the widow of Louis Yaffa. Born in Richmond Hills, NY, she was the daughter of the late Isadore and Ethel (Schreiber) Mann. She leaves her children, Glenn J Yaffa of Avon, CT, Deborah Y Kotler and her husband Marc of West Hartford, CT, and Marsha J Montmeny and her husband Richard of Carmarillo, CA; her sister, Rozlyn Finkel, and her grandchildren, Elyssa Kotler, Jared Kotler and his fiancée Dana Mazzanti, Andrew Montmeny, and Renee and Paul Cattaneo. A very special thank you the aides Diane, Sonia, Bridget, and Cindy who became family and helped Claire over the past few years. She was predeceased by her siblings Jack, Victor, Anita, Ann, Bebe, and Ray. Claire spent her days as a homemaker. Caring for her family was her top priority. She was well known for her famous soups and banana cakes that she made for everyone she came across; from grocery store workers to firemen and her children’s office mates. When not in the kitchen she enjoyed family vacations to the Catskills and the Connecticut beaches. She was an avid sports fan who followed the Boston Celtics, the UConn men’s and women’s teams and never missed an episode of Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and the Golden Girls. Up until her last days, she maintained a great sense of humor and wishes that everyone reach her age and beyond. Private funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Beth David Synagogue Cemetery, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT with Rabbi Yitzchok Adler officiating.
