MARGOLIS, Charles Nathan ?Chick? Margolis, 84 years of age, of Avon, formerly of West Hartford, died Friday, August 7, 2009. He was the husband of the late Barbara (Block) Margolis. Born in London, England, he was the son of the late Reuben and Ida (Greenberg) Margolis and brother of the late Thomas Margolis. Chick was a US Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was the co-owner of Crest Blueprint Service before he retired. He was a member of Beth David Synagogue of West Hartford. He leaves two sons, Robert H. Margolis and his wife Carole of Avon and West Simsbury, and Michael L. Margolis and his wife Renee of West Hartford; and six grandchildren; Garrett, Chelsea, Nathan, Rachel, Elizabeth and Joel. A loving and giving husband, father and grandfather. Chick graduated from Weaver High School and later University of Connecticut after he returned from the Navy. Chick had many passions in his lifetime, he was an accomplished shooter in Trap, Skeet and Pistols, and was a Life Member of the Hartford Gun Club and its President in 1970, and continued his love of shooting for most of his life. He was an avid cyclist, undertaking a cross-country cycle trek upon his retirement in 1986. He was a 32nd degree Free Mason and an Eagle Scout. Chick was an avid photographer and loved to spend time in Newport, RI. He was also an authority of antique furniture made in his families shop, The Nathan Margolis Furniture Shop of Hartford. The family would like to express our deep appreciation for the dedicated professionals of the Farmington Valley VNA Hospice program, the staff at Avon Health Center, Arden Courts of Avon and River Ridge of Avon. Funeral services will be held Monday August 10, 2009 at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Yitzchok Adler officiating. Interment will follow in Beth David Synagogue Cemetery, Wethersfield.
