Carole (Apter) Spector

Carole Spector, age 69, beloved wife of 41 years to Martin Spector passed away at her home in Myrtle Beach, SC on Monday, July 21, 2008. Carole was born in Hartford, CT on August 8, 1938, the daughter of Samuel and Emma Apter. Carole graduated from Hall High School in West Hartford and the University of Connecticut, returning to earn her degree as an adult after raising her children. She and Marty moved to Myrtle Beach, SC nine years ago. Carole was an active member of the PTA and MADD and a member of the Social Action Committee at Congregation Beth Israel, West Hartford and was a leader in feeding the poor, homeless and needy children. She performed volunteer work at the Plant School Housing Project and also at McLean Hospital in Simsbury with Alzheimer patients. She and Marty also enjoyed camping and mall walking together. Carole was an avid reader and book club member and enjoyed being ?Queen Mother? of her Red Hat Society chapter. Her Springer Spaniel Molly brought her much joy for 14 years. Her first love was her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her husband Marty, Carole is survived by her two sons: Marc David Spector and his wife Kim of Huntington Beach, CA, and Dr. Jeremy Spector and his wife Maura of Pawtucket, RI; sister Donna Apter; three cherished grandchildren Kristina Nichole Spector, Samuel Patrick Spector and Sadie Kay Spector, and two exceptional friends Dara Goldstein and Joyce Lemega. She was predeceased by her son Lee Paul Spector. The Spector family would like to thank our many friends for their prayers and for the many kind and selfless acts they have performed for Carole and Marty. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Jeffrey Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in the Beth Alom Cemetery, New Britain. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, care of the Hope Lodge, 269 Calhoun St, Charleston, SC 29401.
