LEFKOWITZ, Carol (Neleber) Lefkowitz, 81 years of age, of Castlewood Dr., Bloomfield, died Monday, January 4, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Anna (Gerstein) Neleber. For many years, Carol was a volunteer at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. She was a member of Beth Hillel Synagogue of Bloomfield, the Synagogue Sisterhood, she formerly chaired the Synagogue Book and Gift Store, and she was a life member of Hadassah. She leaves her husband of 58 years, Joel R. Lefkowitz; her daughter, Rae E. Goldstein and her husband Laurence of Farmington; her son, Ira R. Lefkowitz of Glastonbury; her sister, Sondra Squire and her husband Jerome of Colchester; and her grandchildren, Jonathan Goldstein, and Sara Goldstein. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Sanctuary of Beth Hillel Synagogue, 160 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield with Rabbi Gary Atkins officiating. Interment will follow in Beth Hillel Synagogue Cemetery, Wolcott Rd., East Granby. A memorial period will be observed at her home, 287 Castlewood Dr., Bloomfield, Thursday following the funeral through Friday afternoon.
